19th Century Meiji period black lacquerware and original woodblock prints
This lacquered wood kodansu has silvered copper fittings, comprising of three drawers with metal cone handles, a larger drawer on the bottom and a door uncovering three drawers. The exterior is decorated with gold takamaki-e, hiramaki-e, and inlays of porcelain and ivory. Floral motifs, birds and butterflies are depicted. The backside features the artist signature and kakihan. The interior is of nashiji ground.

This Japanese tansu cabinet features gilt and chiseled metal fittings, opening at the front with two doors and a drawer, with another set of six smaller drawers behind the doors. Decorated in gold, silver and polychrome hiramaki-e and takamaki-e lacquering, with peonies among streams, the sides decorated with maple trees growing at the shore. The upper part depicts cranes in flight near a pine tree. With metal handles for carrying.
